EPI 100

The EPI 100 features all the technological advances made by EPI.

You will hear the extended frequency response common to all our speakers.

Music doesn't come out sounding like its coming out of a box.

There is virtually no exaggeration, or colouration of the signal fed into the speakers.

You will hear the excellent dispersion, over 180 degrees, made possible by EPI's unique one inch linear air spring tweeter.

No matter where you sit in your room to listen to the EPI 100, you will enjoy a sharply defined stereo-effect.

Just picked up a pair of 100v speakers at GW for 40 bucks. I was very skeptical, but took a gamble and I am very pleased so far. They look in great condition, just a decent cleaning is called for. Hooked them up to my AV machine and they sound very good. No distortion when I turn up the volume. Not as much bass, but I have a floor thumper for that when needed.

I've been using these EPI 100's for about 35 + years. The woofers had to be refoamed about 15-20 years ago, but they've been in regular usage since then. Originally I used them as monitors in a little recording studio. But now they are simply my main hifi speakers. My only complaints would be that the bass is a bit lacking (only an 8 inch woofer), and the midrange is a bit unclear... possibly because of the crossover frequency. Otherwise, I am very fond of these old speakers!

re: EPI 100

Replacement parts, similar to the originals but modernized (poly woofer instead of paper), are available as of 2015 from Human Speakers. Their Model 81 is nearly a EPI 100 clone, including the air-spring tweeter (though now a metal dome). I rebuilt a blown pair of 100s using their parts with very nice-sounding results; perhaps a tiny bit brighter, and slightly deeper bass.

re: EPI 100

I've had my EPI 100V since 1979. Rebuilt with bastard drivers once, but plan to go the Human rebuild route. Best bookshelf speakers ever.
