I purchased my Citation 16 new, back in the seventies and have owned it ever since. It weighs like a tank and is rock solid. After all these years, it still sounds great! I have had it paired with a Dynaco Pat-5 since day one. It paired well with the warmth of this pre-amp.
In the eighties, I added an external connectable/removable custom capacitor enclosure with 125,000 mfd's for the power supply and it makes a noticeable difference when handling deep surges of high power robbing bass and sudden musical transients with ease.
Love this amp !!!!!

Wanted to post on the 16. I am currently powering my Epi M1000 with a pair of restored Citation 16 (AS version) with the factory monoblock conversion and I find them very musical. The build quality is exceptional. Modern comparable products would run thousands of dollars more with probably similar results. Mine spec North of 360w@16ohm, 500w@8ohm and 700w@4ohm. Don't know if they will handle deeper loads but I suspect they will.
Had spoken to a tech in Toronto who had been contracted to find, restore and perform the monoblock conversion for a wealthy Chinese audiophile client who wanted something vintage unique and powerful. Though they were the Citation 16A version, with the lights and knobs, the tech said that after his service and conversion he ran them for a good month on a number of speakers before shipping them off and he said that the certainly rival similar powered products Bryston, Levinson or Krell.
Lastly, which I didn't know, I believe - but could be wrong - the 16 operates the first 5-10w in class A then AB and the monoblock conversion elevates the class A operation 20-30w with the rest class AB... I believe that this is what the fellow had said.
A fabulous performer even over 40 years on.
Hope this review helps...Enjoy

Outstanding power and clarity to push CD, and old style LPs. This has played solid music since the early 1980's

re: Citation 16

Though I have never owned one I have had multiple opportunities to hear the sound from this amazing amplifier played through a pair of Focal Chorus 836V speakers combined with a 15" custom sub-woofer. The floor shook however the system played with such clarity one could hear backup singers catching their breath on softer tracks.

Wish I had one... sorry I don't.
