There is nothing about this amp that is unpleasant. The sound into my listening area is about as close to tube as there can be from a solid state device. Smooth at all frequencies and authoritative when driven. For 40 clams at a thrift store and a reset of the bias current I was rewarded with a much more expensive sounding rig. Hk cit. 22 amp and 25 preamp, thorens 145mkii turntable w/at 95 sa shibata, modified tier one realistic mach 1 speakers.

Sound clear and precise. The amplifier works in the A + mode, so it is necessary to wait a few minutes to compensate for the temperature regime. Comparing with the Yamaha A-960 I, I think it has better sound clarity.

Thanks for service manual! Regards!!!

re: Citation 24

Can anyone say if this amp could safely run a 6ohm loudspeaker in Bridge mono on low to medium volume without distress?

re: Citation 24

I have the harman kardon pa 2400 and run it exclusively on 6 ohm speakers (nht classic four's) with zero issues.

re: Citation 24

Each channel "sees" 3 ohms, but you will have no trouble at low volumes. Note that 4 ohm power is barely more than 8 ohm. This tells me the amp is a poor choice for bridging applications.

re: Citation 24

The only reason the power doesn't increase notably into 4 ohms is because there's a switch which reduces the supply voltage when using 4 ohm speakers (to keep the hight current capability). If you were to leave the switch at 8 ohms and run a 4 ohm speaker, you'd find the amp quite capable of about 340 wpc. I've run it this way with my Maggies which are an "easy" 4 ohm load and while the amp does run pretty hot when cranked up, it's able and willing!
