picked one of these up recently , was hardly used it seems . Had to tweak the speed a bit but now works fine . It makes very nice recordings , very punchy and clear sound with the bias trim set correctly .It has very nice meters and is easy to use .

re: TD4200 Speed problem - tape runs too slow

I picked up a near mint tape deck, CD player and amp but the tapes moves thru too slowly. I see that MADOG99 had the same problem. Can anyone tell me how to adjust this problem? thank you.

re: TD4200 Speed problem - tape runs too slow

Remove the top cover a find the motor , there is a little hole in the back of the motor ,use a fine flat screwdriver to turn slowly while playing a tape , this is the speed control . If you have pre-recorded tape that you know is the right speed that would help .

Good day to HiFi Engine,

Stumbled upon your site and must say perfect timing. What an effort to gather all this info. You are to be commended!

I've just purchased a near mint TD4200 that works great - but there are no recording levels - except for an occasional one segment blip. wondering if there may be a secondary internal adjustment for the levels?
