Every time I turn on the 460a ,it gives me an unforgettable musical listening joy.Attention to the smallest detail in the base,or high frequency, the stereo picture not just left and right, but also has depth i.e. back and forth.I feel lucky to have this great amp.in my living room.Hats off to Mr. Scott!

re: 460A

I have a Scott 460A amp that I have owned since 1981. It recently has started to make a very loud "pop" sound through both speakers. It does not appear to be related to any of the input components (turntable; tuner; or CD player). The pop sound starts about 45 - 60 seconds after the amp is switched on - audio output seems to be ok until the popping sound commences. Once the popping sound starts, it goes on as a constant popping sound on a 1/2 second basis. I am hoping to be able to keep this amp and would like to have some guidance about the possible fault as well as the feasibly of repairs.
Thanks very much.

re: 460A

You need some kind of lubricant with which to smash all the switches and potentiometers.I use liquid grease.

re: 460A

thank u my friend . is there any specific brand to use ?

re: 460A

Nothing specific. You can use even any type of engine or hydraulic oil filled in a syringe for convenient application.
Concerning a liquid grease I use a universal grease MOTIP.But this is not the important thing is to be well lubricated switches and potentiometers, because the original grease is already dried and dusted and it gets crackle. The best way is to first flush the piece with some kind of alcohol to clean well and then be greased.
Good Luck!
