I bought this one about 1982 as successor of my JA -V22. Loved the neutral sound and the clean front with the large volume knob. The controls and switches behind the flap where solid and smooth to move. But the source selector was horrible rough with rude sound. The plastic tabs looked not nice for me and the light bulbs died several times and needed replacement. But this was for me the only disadvantage, the main purpose of delivering good sound was really good. I enjoyed it many years. In about 2005 I had to replace it due to a lightning stroke issue. It seemed that the protection circuit was damaged and a repair was too expensive.

re: A-X55

Very good and reliable amplifier. The sound performance of this machine is almost at the same level with the bigger a-x77; both amplifiers share internal circuits and have similar specs.

re: A-X55

had one a major regret for selling it, tight, clean sound
