re: AX-Z711

For a while there was not much info on internet about this amp. One of the rarer in the AX series and as far as I know the lowest in the upper range that has a DAC. The DAC chip in this (well at least in my Euro model) is a Burr Brown PCM56P. This is confirmed through actual visual inspection. (Digi pcb is rear mounted at the bottom and upside down in a screening steel housing.) As far as the Amp is concerned, I really like it. (I have a lot of amps incl. the bigger Z1010). This has better Bass and Treble controls. The DAC feature is nice but it is nothing like the K2 system. But the PCM56P is a decent chip and if you have SPDIF on your player with a decent transport, or you work with DAT then A/B testing couldn't be easier.

Thanks. Very useful.
