I bought this amplifier a while ago. Very happy with it. Produces a warm and crisp sound. I'm still searching for a service manual. These seems hard to find. Somebody?

Cool looking amp! cant beat those analogue meters, the sound on my repaired unit sounds mediocre compared to my Marantz PM550DC or Sansui AU-G55X.
To be fair I did a massive cap replacement (~100) in my troubleshoot to repair due to a blown tweeter on test speaker caused me to stupidly replace caps on EQ circuit so maybe I messed up original sound. lastly unlike Marantz you cant bypass the EQ otherwise it might be 7 out of 10.

Found it on e-bay; paid close to $300; but in pristine condition. Absolutely delightful. I am using Canton three way speakers. The best of both worlds. I have the reliability of a Japanese car, and the handling of a German car. It does whatever I tell it to do.

Wonderful Amp – great design and fantastic sound. I bought it recently and listened to with Tannoy M3 and Sony CDP XE570, after listened with Yamaha AX-396 Amp. The difference is huge in favor of JVC. The scene is very broad, high tones and bass balanced and nicely warm. I fully recommend! Really great Amp, although it has now 38 years old!

bought for $200.00 Canadian, a year ago.
Best amp I ever owned. The sound out of this thing is crystal clear, and highs and lows are amazing. I pump out into Yamaha 100 watt speakers and I love the built-in equalizer !!!

re: JA-S44

hello to all i got one of those amplifiers recently ...it need some work to bring it alive i have a question about the equalizer does it affect recording?? or its just for the power section ? many thanks in advance for your help

re: JA-S44

On the front panel is a switch "SAE REC". When off the equaliser does not affect recording to tapes. When on it does.
