Bought mine new in 1978 at 18 years of age. Had slide volume repaired by tech who had it running every speaker in his shop...Big Noise.
Used nearly every day and totally love the sound.
Only need to replace the two front panel meter lights but no other probs.
Not bad for 40 years of top service...out lasted 3 wives.

Bought my 201 alongside the matching KDS201 cassette deck 7 Zero 3 speakers off a guy who bought it all in the 70s as a complete system. The receiver is I daily use and has a very distinctive sound with a distinctive smooth sound and leaping stereo effects. Never been serviced. I have a large collection of receivers from Marantz, Yamaha, Sansui, Sony, but I love this easy on the ear JVC, particularly through high end cordless headphones. The styling? A bit monochrome and not the best aesthetically but built like a tank. Give this receiver a go.

Well this is one of those love 'em or hate 'em . I think it looks cool . But don't like the slider volume .Sound wise it is on the bass side , so I run the bass down half a notch and the treble up half a notch . Nice sound and seems to fill the room well for only 35w . lot's of worse stuff out there and I bet it would be better than a lot of today's stereo receivers in sound quality considering the used price
