re: KA-54

I just bought this Kenwood at a yard sale, and have not yet had a chance to check it out, but my first hifi amp was a KA-6000 and it was a workhorse.

re: KA-54

This amp is not the best Kenwood, I think. It gives 45W, but that is not the problem. The switches are not so good and the plugs for the speaker wiring are terrible. But he does its work. I have him on our sleepingroom with a pair of Jamo 28. And there is 45W enough. But I think I have to clean or replace some switches as for the loudness and the speakers.
I hope your KA-54 is all right.

Many greetings, Huub

re: KA-54

Hello, this amp was the first I ever bought, back in 1986 or so. It is very solid and I still have it in my workshop in the attic. I had the same problem with the loudness switches and tape/monitor. A good cleaning of the internals of the amp and some cleaning spray from the front side did it for me. For that you have to demount the cover and than pull out 6 screws for spraying from the front side.
Kind Greetings,
Laurens
