I was surprised with tonal abilities of this amp, although specifications are nowhere to be found online, it seems like it shares most of it with slightly more powerful KA660 basing judgement on performance. As much as I find it easy to describe sound produced by other brands devices it is somehow difficult to me to find the right words when it comes to kenwood. The sound is substantial and intriguing, offering some kind of dimmesion that other brands dont. KA550 is not an exception with its shady, spacious signature, absolute control in bottom frequencies and precise positioning. All boards inside are made by Elna as well as all electrolytic capacitors, it would only suggest that the manufacturer did bet for quality rather than for economy. Kenwoods are greatly underrated, hence it is still possible to grab a bargain.
