I just bought this amp for a small price but I had to make a great cleaning and and debonding of the frame after some day of work I test and to my surprise all is ok beautiful sound with a lot of detail and solid power and well dispose to work I am enamored of this amp and I give myself as challenge to change the electrolitic capacitor to keep it longtemp quality of construction, well dispose, beautiful facade, its nice and powerful I give 8/10 but I am a beginner to the subject.Excuse my because I am Québécois

Solid small frame integrated from mid 70's. Build quality is good as evidenced by weight. Good power (55 watts) and low distortion for small integrated. Neutral in tone quality. Neither bright or warm. Does not add or subtract from source. Preamp and amp can be split. Makes good control amp for a compact stereo set up if space is premium but need good power. Used to drive a pair of Large Advents with no problem. I also tried with pair of JBL L86. I particularly liked this set up. JBL's are a little livelier. Cool power meters if you like to watch needles. Two cons I noticed - a) does not have a loudness contour and b) toned defeat switch can be troublesome. Recommended especially as prices are relatively modest compared with other 50 W integrated.

Excellent amp with warm sound. One common problem - the switch - bypass for treble/bass controls. Even after cleaning it could make some noise/lost contact.

Very small unit and not very heavy and has a very nice sound and high quality. Performes very well all day long and do not heat very much! Since last month im having a small problem of noise and crackle in one chanel. Probaby capacitor or transistor failure since the unit was made in the early 70's.
If someone can help with some tip I would appreciate very much!

re: KA-5500

It's a year later and I'm not sure you still need it, but I just bought a KA-5500 and the instruction manual is here in front of me. I can scan it and send you a copy if you like. Let me know.

re: KA-5500

I could go for the manual as well if you are still around :)

re: KA-5500

If you could please scan and send a PDF of the KA-5500 manual of post to the library I would be very thankfull. I have owned this amp since buying new back in 1977 or so but have lost the manual through several moves and changes of partners. hoping this is still available.
