This receiver is really great sounding, even with it's 50 wpc.

re: KR-A3060

This receiver has some good points; it runs very cool after hours of use, is quite compatible with most speaker loads and the digital readout is easy to read.
Disappointments are; no meters to help orient FM antennas, a single tape monitor, a back panel switch for eight or four ohm loads and questions about it's true output capabilities. Reading the back panel, it gives power consumption as 1.3 amps. This equals 143 watts. As two thirds of this "power" is dissipated in heat we are left with about 47 watts. Divide this for two channels (stereo) and we have a watts-per-channel output of a little over 23. This does not correlate to Kenwoods claim of 50wpc. For vintage receivers look for pre 1980 models. This KR-A3060 weighs 16 lbs and is supposed to be 50wpc??? Fuhgeddaboudit!

Well I'm a bit embarrassed as I have just read the instruction manual for this KR-A3060. There are tuning aids; a "tuned" and a "stereo" lamp that light when a station is chosen. Also a lamp for "auto" (stereo) and mono. These lamps on my unit are burned out. A very helpful feature is a speaker disconnect circuit should a short occur. When activated the speaker is muted and ample time is given to correct the short and press power switch to resume listening.
