The 851, and to a lesser extent the 651 has to be one of the greatest receivers ever made. Just gorgeous sound at all listening levels. Curiously modern looking case too.

Absolutely the best receiver I have ever listened to. Sold Sony, Pioneer, Marantz and McIntosh back during the 70's & early 80's and nothing compared. Quality all the way through. Funny that the market has not picked up on it. Sound is at least as good as my Parasound and Sunfire equipment used within it's range. Even drive myu Magnepans reasonably well.
Can't complain about the $175 spent on the used market.
