One of the best receivers I've ever heard. Not only lush preamp and sweet and powerful amp, but also one of the best tuners ever. Amp quality is better than a lot of separates.

What can be said that has not been already said about this receiver. It's awesome in ever respect.
Clean as a whistle with plenty of power to boot.
My audio odyssey started with a Yamaha CR-840 and pair of Klipsch Heresy's. The CR-840 saw me through the CD revolution and beyond.

Several years ago I was introduced to Luxman with the Model LV-105. I could not believe the improvement. I was told the Luxman line was the Japanese version of McIntosh.
They were right. I was then persuaded to upgrade to the model R-117. The difference in sound was breathtaking.
So far as I'm concerned I'm finished with speakers. Once you have the best, your mission is accomplished. My mission is totally complete.

Serious power and very clean. Used both as a stand alone unit, and power amp. The phono stage is excellent (both MM and MC), and the tuner is great. Remote is a bonus - can use other Luxman remotes such as RR-114 - works fine.

re: R-117

A recap with Elna Silmic IIs will do wonders for this already amazing receiver. If you see one, snatch it up before they get crazy expensive and are all taken! Already seeing these go for $800+ on occasion and it keeps going up.

re: R-117

HI, First I want to thank HiFi for the free downloads. I just got my luxman r-117 today. I was reading alot of conments on the internet about how nice of a receiver this is. Everything these people wrote about the r-117 was true. Wow one well built and sounding receiver. Hope one day they come out with another one. Thank you luxman.

I had the r-115 and loved the sound but since I use my amps to play bass sometimes I bought the 117 and wow! The bass is much more tight and deep.
Thanks for the manuels.

I like this unit, so much in fact that I have 5 of them. One NIB never played, one like new stowed away for whenever. I have two in excellent working condition for listening and one in non working condition for parts in the event I cannot get it to work. I have one mint pair of Magnepan 1.4s with which I use to listen to the R117 and I can say that with out a doubt this is one of the most truely unique and enjoyable pieces of audio equipment there is.

Of all the things that I have lost, it is my mind I miss the most.

re: LUXMAN R117

I have an R-117 which was working fine. Put it in storage for few months, took it out and now I don't get any sound out of the speakers or headphones even with volume at maximum. When I attach a turntable and headphones I can barely hear anything coming out.

does this mean the Audio caps are shot?

Would like to fix it with least cost possible.

Advice ?

Thank you,

re: LUXMAN R117

Verify that the jumpers are installed on the rear panel that connect the Pre-Amp output to the Main-Amp input. If the jumpers are lost, you can use a spare RCA cable instead.

Luxman R117

Recently obtained Luxman R117 as a replacement for a Carver HR-732 that bit the dust. The Luxman is an awesome sounding unit. I am glad I found this website as it is the only place I have found the owners manual!
Thanks again!
