Recently purchased a Marantz 2240 on Ebay. It has plenty of juice for vintage speakers (currently using Polk SDA Compact Monitors). Multiple connection options make adding a turntable, CD players or tape decks easy as a breeze. The faceplate layout is straightforward, and there are enough knobs and switches to customize the output for various music genres and individual components. The sound is very full, clear, strong, warm and detailed without being strident or analytical. FM reception could be better, but a Terk antenna helps considerbly. My only issue is with the Dolby button. This receiver does not have the noise reduction system built in, so I do not expect a change in output when the button is depressed. However, engaging the Dolby button actually boosts the FM signal strength. Disengaging the button often knocks out or severely reduces the left channel output. Could be just a few dust particles that will work out with use over time. Love that gyro tuning dial and the blue glow!

I bought this receiver a year ago. It has plenty of power and stays very listenable at high volume. My old Sansui had a harshness that set in with increased volume. This thing definitely has the fabled warm sound of a Marantz. It also began to hum last week, most likely the old power supply caps! I'm here getting schematics, Thanks Hifiengine!!!
