Just purchased the Marantz CD6005 after 22 years of sterling service from my old Technics SL PG380A CD player. Now I know that the Technics was first and foremost a basic budget silver disc spinner from circa 1994, but the difference in that player and the Marantz is not decades apart, but light years - the CD6005 is that good. This is especially so when you take into account that the Marantz is itself considered as a 'budget' player by many of the Hi Fi press. The sound of the Marantz is staggering throughout the entire frequency range - from the deepest bass notes to the clash of symbols. Moreover, the attack this player injects into the sound is simply outstanding, as is the natural decay of the musical notes. No wonder the CD6005 has won so many plaudits - it is quite simply one of the most musical CD spinners I have ever heard. Thoroughly recommended!
