Belt replacement is a bit of a job.
My belts had turned to black sticky mush after sitting in a box for 20 odd years.
All the rollers had to be cleaned before new belts were fitted.
You will need the service manual !!!

Every Marantz cassette deck of this era uses exactly the same mechanism, removing the belts is only slightly complex; the goo makes it seem worse. The capstan removal is difficult; or rather, installation is difficult because it's a cheap mechanism that has to be bent just right to redo (and no I'm not kidding, read the manual).

Yes, it's an ugly job; whatever Marantz used, they hated their service techs.
