Auto Azimuth Control is unique and superb in this deck, far better AAC than Nakamichi Dragon. It lacks of double capstan, double Dolby and HX Pro but have DBX. Include an automatic digital bias/equalization and level control compubias, no messy knobs to tweak recording parameters, it's all done in 5 seconds accommodating specific tape media, memorizes settings digitally in a non-volatile memory. It could have been the best deck ever made if having above mentioned features but works amazingly well, the MACC is really a state-of-the-art system not found in any other deck. The special R/P head is very fragile for cleaning as mentioned in the user manual but can survive more than 30 years of operation if gently maintained; several owners broke the piezo element by pushing the head too hard. It is an extremely rare deck. To fully enjoy the analog performance of this deck, it is better to use metal tapes for high frequency reproduction
