This is a surprisingly good preamp even today in 2017. Back in its day I imagine it was king of the hill, being dual mono with a dual channel attenuator for its main volume control, with individual channel attenuators to achieve balance as well as defeatable contour controls and MM/MC inputs. It is surprisingly transparent and accurate today. One weird thing is that on the front panel there are buttons for Speakers A and Speakers B, and these buttons are set up to allow you to select which set of speakers you want to use - ONLY IF THIS PREAMP IS CONNECTED TO ITS MATCHING AMPLIFIER. Of course today that amplifier is rather outdated and it is likely that this preamp will be used with a better performing amplifier, and we are then left with unusual controls on the front panel that don't perform as labeled. The matching FM Tuner is also VERY nice and operated together as a pair they have withstood the test of time and are as pertinent today as back in the golden era when they were new!
