I purchased the 1020 from a craigslist ad for $40
Took it home and serviced it and been using it 2 years
It really is a great sounding piece and the phono stage is
Close to the sound of my schiit mani phono preamp
I have been very happy with it

Spartan in looks but really good sounding device! Features a nice phono preamp! I Love it!

re: 1020B

Built my first system this year. Wanted to do it on the cheap, yet use good components. Think I did well by choosing the NAD 1020 preamp for $120 on eBay. Add a used Jolida 202a tube amp in great shape for $300, a mid grade Audio Technica turntable for $75 and two Polk T-50 speakers on sale for $150 for both. Less than $700 for a really sweet sounding system. The NAD amp is just awesome and does not color the sound going to the tubes much. The highs are a bit tin sounding, but not overly terrible.
