Bought NAD 5000 new in Feb. 1994. Reviews Jan. 1991 (Stereophile) and May/June 1991 (Sound & Vision) were very positive. Very reliable and good sounding unit once 4 focus transistors were upgraded and circuit board solder cracks repaired under warranty to fix skipping and stop playing issues common on NAD 5000, 5440, 502, 512 and 514 models. Cleaning optical lens and lubricating transport gear, loading tray and motor bearing recommended to address minor skipping and noise issues. Easy to program tracks. Has reliable and easy to use remote. Still in daily use. Worked well for me all these years.
