re: RS-806US

This comment is regarding the Panasonic RS-845US 8 Track player. My dad was the original owner. I've carried the quadraphonic torch since. This little heavy weight basic machine plays both 2 or 4 channel sound only, no record capability. I have no prior experience with other 8 track equipment or reel to reels. However when playing 'Staying Alive' on 8 track tape, cassette tape, vinyl record, and CD (yes I have a prerecorded version for each source)...... overall the 8 track playback sounded the best. When I informed my friends they've been listening to an 8 track, their faces mutate while able to see the gears in their head go into a state of confusion and chaos and disbelief a 8 track can and does sound better than cd's and vinyl. And I love vinyl. Basically I'm saying these Panasonic 8 track players are good.

re: RS-806US

I just found this model at a goodwill and noticed that it seems to be playing fast. Otherwise it seems to be in good shape. Any suggestions on how to get it to play at a normal pace?

re: RS-806US

There is a little pot connected to Tr 15, R 238 and R 239. It seems to be the speed adjust.

re: RS-806US

I fixed it! While shining a flashlight into the tape deck I noticed some old tape that had broken off a tape. I managed to stick a pair of pliers in there carefully and pulled it out. Then I cleaned the spot with a little rubbing alcohol and it works perfectly! Best $6 I've spent in a long time!

re: RS-806US Parts List

Hi:
The parts list seems to be missing pages 6 and 7 (Capacitor parts).
Anyone have a replacement?

Thanks,
Dan.

re: RS-806US 8 track stereo

can anyone advise what type of speakers to use with this component?

can I use a speaker and just rewire the end with the proper fitting "RC plug" ?

re: RS-806US 8 track stereo

This is a component tape deck, meaning that it does not have any amplification of its own, other than a small signal to get to the receiver or pre-amp that will power it to the speakers.

re: RS-806US 8 track stereo

I believe this unit has line-in and line-out jacks. I don't think the line-out output has enough power to drive speakers so you would need an additional amplifier or stereo unit that has tape-in, line-in or aux jacks. Some of the stand-alone 8 track players had outputs that could drive speakers and these jacks are usually labeled with "Speakers". If you can find the owners manual for this unit then this would confirm the correct way to connect the player.
