re: A-301

Hello, having a problem with this unit. A colleague brought this in a just said he applied the incorrect voltage. I opened it up and tested voltage coming into the Transformer, but I don't know the voltages I should be receiving. I did't see anything out of the ordinary i.e, swelling, black marks where components let their smoke out. What I'm I looking for, when 220V is applied to a 120V unit? Thank you.

re: A-301

IF you apply 230V in a 120V transformer's primary ... you'll get the double secondary voltage.
I'm afraid that the amp is totally out of service ... or (with some luck) only the power-section. And this, only if the 230Vac was only "on" for a few seconds! Otherwise, the transformer is probably "dead"

Rule of thumb for a 40watts amp ... about 35volts AC (split supply)
The caps in the rectifier-section should give you some idea ... If they are 63V ... the voltage should be around 45 and 55 VDC (at tops)

Best thing to do is to disconnect the secondary from the print and measure the different voltages

Good luck !
