I believe this model was sold as CT-720 in some territories. Confusingly, there is also a 1982 model CT720 which bears no relation!

When i bought this deck (a few months ago, y2018) it was not working. The reel motor had been changed. It has a Mabuchi motor instead of the original rxm-047 (i dont know who did it, or when it was changed) After changing all the belts and the iddler tire (not an easy job) it started working like a charm. It is really a good sounding deck. The 3 heads (using monitoring option) and the bias pot are the key to excellent quality recordings. Dual capstan provide great speed stability. The blue display is great looking too. I dont give it a 10 because the are more complete decks in the line: the f950 and the f1250, but the f850 is the best deal for less money. Nowadays, this decks became quite expensive in my country. Ive paid $ 50 us dollars for my unit, while f950s are offered from 250 u$s, and the f1250 are almost imposible to find and often priced over u$s750. The service manual has been very useful. Thank you very much.

Thank you for manuals! F850 have a clear sound and never stop working. If had Autorevers and remote would just perfect.

re: CT-F850

Just got my old unit off the shelf and to the repair shop for a tune up. Hope to revisit all the fun times this deck gave me long ago. Great piece of equipment that I’m glad I kept!!
