Even today this is still a nice sounding CD player, though arguably a tad bright on some systems. It can have a tendency to skip as it ages. If it does skip replacing the tracking worm gear grease (avoid disassembly there's a really annoying spring) and then re-aligning the tangential alignment and tracking pots (you MUST have an oscilloscope) can reap wonders on a mis-tracking machine. Pioneer adjustments are confusing so its worth downloading multiple pioneer service manuals including later ones. Leave the grating and laser adjustment strictly alone.
