re: RT-701 Is it hard to replace the counter belt & meter light?

Just brought 701 pioneer off e-bay. It needs a counter belt and one of the light meter is burned out. Just checking if it is hard to do it yourself? Is there any videos showing how to change belt & bulb?

re: RT-701 Is it hard to replace the counter belt & meter light?

Not really. You need to remove the front brushed aluminum faceplate and it's pretty much right there. The belt can be found on ebay for about $8

You'll need to proper screwdriver or else you'll scratch the stainless steel screws that hold the faceplate on.

re: RT-701

My 701 is stuck in rewind on play.....any ideas?

re: RT-701

The service manual for the RT-701 posted here does not include any alignment instructions. Does anybody have these? If you do could you e-mail me please?

re: RT-701 sensing tape

The Pioneer RT-701 manual says that accessories include take up reel, cables, splicing tape and sensing tape. What is the function of the sensing tape on the RT-701? If anyone knows, please reply.

re: RT-701 sensing tape

Somewhat confusing from the Manual, The sensing tape is used only for the RT-707 that has auto reverse capability, and not for the RT-701 that only travels in one direction. May have been submitted incorrectly by a user/owner.

re: RT-701 sensing tape

The sensing tape is applied at the beginning and end of a tapes reel that controls the automatic reverse function. Otherwise stated when side A runs out the deck senses it is at the end via sensing tape (metallic strip) and therefore automatically switches (reverses) to play side B.

re: RT-701

Nice and Good sound

re: RT-701

Can your Pioneer RT-701 use sensing tape as described in the Manual? Please reply.

re: RT-701

The only reason for the foil sensing tape is to activate the auto-reverse, which applies to the RT-707, not the RT-701.
