A basic amplifier, but really reliable and versatile. Powerful enough but stays cool. Nice sound; no distortion or hum that I can detect with my set-up. I had quite a collection of nice audio gear: decks, tapes and amps, collected over the years, but disposed of it when CDs and high quality streaming came along. Then, some years later, I needed to digitize some old heirloom 78s, so a friend clearing out a loft donated the SA-301 amp and a PL-450 turntable. It only took a length of neoprene o-ring and a little superglue to replace the perished drive belt and the system was up and running for a session with the (also free) shareware package Audacity! Excellent results; and the system has been running well ever since. Sorry Pioneer, for not contributing $$$ to the company but you have my thanks for the brilliant equipment.
