Lovely warm sound - really like the amp.
Classic look….and love the meters.

re: SA-6800

Purchased this amp a bit ago from the original owner - wooden sides….absolutely mint condition.

It had been in storage for about 10 years or so. All lights work as they should. There was a bit of
crackle on some switches and knobs.

I was keeping this unit and gladly invested a little into it. Brought it to a reputable audio tech and had it cleaned
and serviced to bring back to virtually new.

This guy has been in the business over 30 years and said this was the cleanest SA-6800 he had ever seen.

Works perfectly….sounds lovely. Using a pair of Pioneer S-710 L/R mirror speakers with it.

Highly recommended little amp!!

Pioneer SA-6800 wattage

Was there a year in which this was produced with 60watt output? I'm curious as to this because the meter on this unit goes to 60 watts on the unit that I own.

SA-6800 wattage

Hi, I recently purchased a like model. The display on mine also goes to 60 wpc, although all the specs i have seen say 45 (?) wpc. Unfortunatly mine has some issues that hopefully will be resolved by a good de-ox of controls. Have not had the time to check serial number for approximate date of manufacture. I am visiting this site as it has been most helpful with other vintage Pioneer components i have. Any info on this would be helpful. As a p.s....the 6800 was a lost cause, it went back to seller and i got a 5800. likewise it also had the same rating on watt meter.

SA-6800 Wattage

My under standing is as follows: 45 WPC stands for 45 Watts Per Channel RMS. As for the power meter will be able and should since the amplifier can produce power that peaks above the 45W rating.

Hope this helps...Kris
