I've used this receiver for almost 4 years now as the Mainstay of my 7.1 home theater cinema and I have nothing but great things to say about it, used in conjunction with my Technic surround speakers, center and Mains and a Klipsch sub it does a wonderful job and it's very easy to calibrate manually with independent speaker distances and level settings. Although the video interface for this year was very rudimentary it was still very easy to calibrate and it certainly made the difference to sit in The Sweet Spot after calibrating.. just remember your receivers only going to be as good as the speakers you attach to it and the cabling you use. It also does an excellent job of upscaling your video signals and making low-res much clearer and cleaner and crisper and it does a great job at digital Sound Processing for lower res or stereo or mono signals I was very impressed with the ability for it to give you a clean surround envelope with lower res audio signals. Certainly very pleased in general with the receiver and have always been a Pioneer fan; my original stereo receiver was a 1979 SX 580 and I certainly wasn't disappointed in the VSX 1022K
