This tuner is a fairly standard design for the era. It is, like all Quad equipment, very well made and has more than adequate audio quality. It is mono only but Quad sold a stereo decoder for it. This decoder is a little unusual because it is solid state -- it uses just three germanium transistors. It was designed to be bolted onto the back of the tuner.

Small details of the design remind you that it was built for FM listening in England where at the time you only had a choice of three FM stations (...and only one of those, BBC Radio 3, was stereo). The tuner has three small colored pointers which can be slid along the tuning dial to mark where the stations were.

re: FM1

I will not write a review at that time, because I never put this tuner on my workbench. The company that sell it to me tell me it is fully controlled with new tubes. The tubes are effectely new, but on some stations, I get images. I must put on my workbench and control it fully. When done, I will make a review.

What I can say for now is the sound quality is outstaning.
