FM4 and 44

I think it would suit my 34/306 a little better than the stated 44, which is styled differently. At the age they are now, watch out for a defective battery leaking onto circuit board and scrambling the memory circuits. If it is working okay and it has never been serviced, that battery is twenty years old! have it replaced, now! Anyone want to swap one for my Techniks? Thought not.

re: FM4 and 44

I have just bought a well used FM4 after selling them at a HIFI shop when I left school in the 1980's.
The battery had leaked along with a few of the electrolytics. Also the two 1000uf filter caps were getting very warm in the PSU so these were replaced to prevent the transformer frying and reduce ripple.
These checks MUST be made if you are going to use the tuner every day.
Also a increase in the audio coupling capacitors to 1uf greatly improve the early bass rolloff when using a 47 K input.
