I owned the APM-500 many years back and although I prefer this unit because of the L.E.D.'s and analog meters it really serves no useful purpose to me. True clipping indicators on amplifiers are most useful. The switch on back to change from 4 to 8 ohms doesn't mean much since impedance changes with frequency. Bottom line it won't protect your speakers from being over driven but are a fun little gadget to watch if you like meters. I am shocked that these gadgets bring $ 100.00-$ 200.00.

Very nice throwback to the past, with needles and lights. Great for a 200W receiver.

i love this thing. owned it for 30+ years. gives a reasonably accurate power reading. I enjoy the meters and it good for adjusting channel balance when adjusting with pink noise. just a fun little device.
