re: SA-10

There are three versions of Realistic SA-10: 31-1982, 31-1982A and 31-1982B.

Radio Shack catalogs don't show these letter suffixes with the catalog number. They do appear on the physical product (though designated "model number"), and on the Owner's Manual packaged with the product.

31-1982: Introduced in 1975. Ran 4 years. Silver face with black trim and controls in a plastic, simulated walnut finish cabinet. Discrete 10 transistor amplifier circuitry. http://www.radioshackcatalogs.com/catalogs/1977/pages/015.jpg

31-1982A: Launched in 1979 featuring a cosmetic makeover. Now sporting black face with bright trim and slender silver controls in the same faux walnut plastic cabinet. Internal electronics remain the same. http://www.radioshackcatalogs.com/catalogs/1979/pages/015.jpg

31-1982B: Looks identical to 31-1982A. Internally, discrete transistor circuitry of prior models is replaced by a pair of NEC ╬╝PC1312C monolithic integrated amplifiers. Can't confirm the exact year this model launched, though the earliest examples I've seen were built in 1985.

There are at least three different published versions of power output specs for SA-10.

The 31-1982A Owner's Manual posted here on hifiengine shows 0.9 WPC into 8 Ohms at 2.5% THD. An alternate version 31-1982A manual in my collection lists power output as 1.2 WPC into 8 Ohms at 10% THD. These are consistent with one another, just referenced from different distortion level thresholds.

A 31-1982B Owner's Manual in my collection shows 1.0 WPC into 8 Ohms at 10% THD for the chip amp version. There are other differences between specifications of chip amp vs discrete versions as well.

I have not yet seen an Owner's Manual for the original silver face version of SA-10.

re: SA-10

Any chance you could upload the "B" owner's manual & schematic? I, too, own a "B" model. - Thanks, JWS
