Excellent, well balanced, sound from this unit. Seems to pack a particularly good punch with 4ohm speakers. Has a pair of AR-3s's really singing right now. Tuner is above average on reception and sound as well. Very happy with my 2280.



re: STA-2280

The STA-2280 was the 1987 replacement for the STA-2270. Built by Foster Electric in Japan and Korea. A very solid unit with a superb FM tuner that is the most sensitive the Shack ever sold. Can be updated to world class by a knowledgeable tech. Replaced by the STA-2380 in 1989. Note: these units are known for having bad/intermittent solder joints.
