I was so lucky to bought my REVOX B77 ( Two track 15ips) Couple of years ago at the beginning of my interest of hi-end audio collection. This is my first reel to reel deck .My interest was either to buy Akai GX 635D or Technic RS-1500.Mainly because Compared with looks of those units bit encouraging me than Revox b77.But later I was distinguished that my pick of the b77 was the best of the best.

As over 40 years of old it need recapping ,Replacing some old parts ( Easy to find and plenty of parts available through e- shopping) . After overhauled by qualified professionals tech with standard numaicle adjustments, WOW ...... its peace of jem and ready to life time service again.
I was so delighted when I listened to Eagles, Hotel California in 15ips (Speed)-
and able hearings every details note of the song. Specially 15ips used medium type Recording studios .there is details disclosure on YouTube video of The most expensive music format (in the world)by Techmoan published on 14th Dec 2017.
The remarkable mechanical and electronic stability of the tape transport mechanism makes b77 most popular among audiophiles.
Frankly these machines made early 80 at Germany like Tanks. ReVox is a brand name registered by Studer early 1951 for swiss audio equipment. Hence reliability and easy to repair is the common factor for the Most products.
B77 is most popular among high-end collectors and Iconic model of the Revox brand. Highly recommended absolute satisfaction Is Guaranteed.

The B77 is an excellent deck based on the very good A77 recorder with the addition of logic controls and improved ergonomics. The deck transport is direct drive, and very smooth and quite. Frequency response is quite extended at both normal operating speeds and tape noise is well controlled. The deck is easy to align and service. Finally like all older decks, recapping is essential to restore the deck to as new performance.

The B-77 is my 3rd Revox and is by far the best. I have had a G-36 and a A-77 which I still use quite frequently. I found my B-77 in a community garage sale in Pierre, South Dakota about 15 years ago. It was not working but that was not much of a problem since I am an electrical engineer. I replaced a $1.50 electrolytic capacitor and have had no further problems. I use it with a dbx 228 noise reduction unit, and it sounds as clean as a CD to most listeners. I plan to add a wireless remote control soon to make it more user-friendly.

Been wanting one of these for some 41 years. Finally got a 2tr mint specimen & love it. Most faithful sound I've ever experienced since hearing a Studer A80. The B77 is a keeper! I did add the memory pause pcb from a guy (PieVox in Germany). Came with instructions, easy install, icing on the cake, works very well.

Hi Forum !
A couple a days ago I got an Revox B77 (Mk-I). When I turn it ON, the capstan motor starts to spin(9 or 19 speed) but when I push any of the buttons (Play,Rew,FF etc.) nothing happens. The reels do not spin. Any idea where I could get some advice ?
Thanks a lot in advance and I hope this is the right forum for this kind of questions.
Karl, Austria
P.S. A tape on 2 reels (1 empty,1 full) is on the b77 and fed through the assembly as displayed in the users manual.

Smoke!! caused by a capacitor

Got a B77 from a friend. switched it on. Nothing....until smoke emerged.
I found a burnt black remains of an unknown thing.
With the scematic it appeared to be the 0.1 mu in the supplyline.

It's playing now. Thanks to the great schematics.

Revox b 77 MkII

Is there an english instruction manual? I don't speak the other languages :(

re: Revox b 77 MkII

Documentazione eccellente.

HS Variation, and English user manual?

In the manuals I cannot see the English Language user manual.
The service manual is superb - wonderful and many thanks - but I would really welcome the user manual too.

Also, is there much difference between the MkII and the HS variation, or is it the same?

Many thanks for the people that took part of the time to upload the manuals, very nice stuff, recently I owned a PR99 MKII and with the info of the B77 MKII server and PR99 MKIII server I can take full maintenance of my mint condition unit. Thanks a lot again and it will be very helpful if someone has the service manual of the STUDER A807 open reel recorder and Revox B215 and B215S cassette decks service manuals, and information of the STUDER A721 cassette deck. It would be very nice to get that stuff too because I´m seareching for those units I mentioned. THX!!!! Roberto.
