Headphone problem

Have an old Rotel ra810a and when I plugged in my new headphones I still got sound from my speakers. I can't find any switch or button to disable the speakers. I thought the speakers would be disabled automatically when I plugged in the headphones. Can anyone help me, is there something I'm missing?

Headphone Problem

Hi Mathon

Just had a quick look at the schematics. You're not missing anything, both the speaker and headphone outputs are always active. Which is kinda strange, never came upon anything similar... The easiest way would be to route the speaker outputs via a switch (switchbox) to turn them off. More comfortable would be to integrate a relay into the amp that switches the speaker outputs off as soon as headphones are plugged to their jack. This would require some tinkering inside the amp and at least some knowledge about which side of the soldering iron gets hot :-)

Hope this is helpful! If you don't mind that I might not answer immediately just ask if you'd like more infos.

Happy new year, best

Hi Robert Thanks for the

Hi Robert

Thanks for the answer, at least I know it isn't any wrong with my amp :)

Very strange though, who wants to hear both speakers and headphones at the same time?
I'm not skilled enough to do any changes inside the amp so I have to look at the switch-solution.

Yes, you have been very helpful and I sure come back if I have any more questions :)

Thanks once again and hope you get a fantastic 2013
