Hello,

I have used a Rotel 920AX amp for the past 25 years. I picked it up cheap before being told that they had a good phono stage. And up until recently, I thought it was fine. It is connected to a pair of hand-me-down B&W dm22 speakers.

However, I came across a more recent Denon amp which had connectors for 2 tape decks and I assumed it would sound better. So I tried it... Guess what?

The Denon amp went out of the window within minutes, as the vinyl pre-amp did not sound even remotely as good as on the Rotel, and the output was pretty limited, from what was supposedly a more modern and more powerful amp!

So I am still using my dinky 20W Rotel which sounds a million dollar! And I connect/disconnect whatever needs connecting each time, but it's worth it!
