Mech is identical to that used in AKAI CS-707D!
Note to anyone servicing these. The counter belt must be in fairly good shape to actuate the motion sensor, or the deck shuts off.

It takes a rather convoluted path from the tape counter and motion sensor (front LH side) , round the TU reel table and also round a small rotary guide low down in the well.You can get better fast wind performance if you just replace with a shorter belt, and thread it round the supply spindle and then out to the counter /sense pulleys. The angles are less acute that way. Whichever way you choose, the belt must be fairly loose - just tight enough to move the two pulleys - otherwise there'll be too much drag on the motor. HTH.
