These are really great heaphones. I bought mine around september 1994. And they are still my go to headphones. Back then, Sennheiser rated their headphones by musical genre. These where rated Classical. They are very detailed and bright in the mid and upper range. Good instrument separation and sound stage. Perfect for jazz, classical. Not a lot of bass so they are not ideal for heavy metal, techno or any other similar genre. They sound very good with vinyl. They are rated at 300 ohms so you'll need good amplification. They will not put out a lot of volume if you use them with a portable device such as an iPod or a smartphone. They have extremely comfortable plush velour around the ear circular cushions that make these headphones perfect for long listening sessions. Replacement parts are still available through your local Sennheiser distributor.
