If you can grab one of these that hasn't been abused then you have a very nice bit of vintage kit in your possession.

Mine (since new) is hooked up to a pair Jamo D365s which are also vintage and the clarity of sound and gut wrenching bass is awe inspiring.

Irrespective of sensitivity this amp will move your speaker cones with aplomb and even at higher levels there is no trace of distortion.

The only downside is the amp is hardwired to 9v DC along with AC mains which was fed from the main console (long since dispatched to the hi-fi graveyard) but this was overcome by the use of a mains powered 9v battery charger.

Yes you can't beat the old stuff.

re: SM-7700H

Hi Tony the Wolf,

I also own one of these amps, and I still have the ugly pre amp/stereo tower with it... ;)

Now I am planning to use only the power amp in combination with an AV receiver, with the pre out of the AVR. But, seeing your comment below, that requires a little modification of the setup of the power amp.

Can you tell me, how exactly did you perform that operation? Some others talk of using a 5V dc signal producer/charger, see link below. How many Amperes needs to be provided by the charger, or is that irrelevant?

I am looking forward hearing from you,

Kind regards,
