Since purchased in 1980, this tuner continues to operate daily without any problems. The facility of wide IF bandwidth to receive the highest quality is unique. Also the multiplex receiving mode which is more akin to an a.m. demodulator is useful for analysing transmissions and mismatching of receiving aerials. The quality of audio is superb without any whistles or birdies. There is a small mismatch of the left and right levels or about 1 dB on the fixed as well as the variable front panel control.
Over the years, unlike a valved Philips radio, there has been no drift on the tuning or afc circuitry.

The tuner operates perfectly adjacent to fm transmitters, with a high rf field, and apart from the variable front control needing to be adjusted to remove at certain levels, a faulty sounding demise of one of the channels, it is corrected by using the control at maximum or using the fixed phono outputs.
Upon silent fm transmissions, the tuner is super quiet, thus enabling realistic silence fm transmissions analysis.
Readers are requested to research the fourier analysis of fm transmissions which show that most tuners with 180KHz bandwidth cause distortion of the transmitted audio. The wide bandwidth switch facility in the unit overcomes this problem. Although quite heavy in weight, thoroughly recommended. This review submitted in April 2016.
