This receiver has a warm pleasing sound. When paired with the right speakers I would recommend this as a starter unit, or a secondary room unit.

re: S-7110B

I am the proud owner of two Sherwoods, models S-7100A,and S-7110B. I acquired them on an online auction, one for sixty nine dollars, and the other for twenty two. I have since been told that I paid too much for them and that their power switches are not designed very well. I have never had a problem with the on/off switches, and have never experienced any "crackly" noises when turning them up or down, that said, I haven't owned them very long,so only time will tell. I have the S-7110B in the bedroom, and it performs very well. For those of you vintage stereo buffs out there that have an opportunity to obtain a Sherwood receiver from the sixties, or early seventies, you can't go wrong if you purchase one,in my humble opinion, provided the price is right. They are efficient little units, I use one in my kitchen. The A-7100A at twenty five watts per channel coupled with two Infinty RS-10 bookshelf speakers is adequate for my kitchen listening needs. The S-7110B in the bedroom at 18 watts per channel, drives my Bose 201 series III speakers neatly and has warm lows and crisp highs. For the money I've invested, I am a happy listener !
