CDP-M48 - restored elegance

Just acquired (January 2017) a restored M48 with a new laser, and everything has been checked and cleaned for about US$180.00 including shipping. Although it is only 18 Bit, 8x oversampling, it gives newer high end players a good run for the money on remastered recordings from the 1960s and 1970s. Play your Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Dave Brubeck and Antonio Carlos Jobim through it and you'll be amazed with the quality! This is my main listening turf so this is timeless technology to me. Play newer recordings like the Classical releases on PHILIPS and SONY and you might find the soundstage a little cramped, but by no means harsh. Just a little tip: use at least a budget power distributor and better than manufacturer supplied RCA interconnects to hear this player's full potential. And oh yes, match it to either a SANSUI, MARANTZ or LUXMAN amp for the glory of 70s stereo!
