Very nice little entry level receiver from the early 70’s
Was given one in like new condition from my neighbor.
Cleaned controls and switches, replaced dial lamps with green LED’s for the radio dial and a blue LED for the meter.
Has good sound, decent tuner and looks great!

Found unit at garage sale. 10 bucks. First thing I always do with used amps is to turn them upside down and try and shake out all the crap before I power it up. Never know. This one had none. Powered up but no audio output. All it needed was a good cleaning at all the switches and pots. DeoxIT to the rescue. Everything works like new but the selector switch. Noise but almost impossible to fix without removing the double throw switch. Outside of that it's a nice little vintage unit.

No FM stereo in mine, FM in mono fine. Common problem, said to be bad MPX circuit, no fix.

Good looks. Sounds nice with efficient speakers. Not hi end but nice for a low cost.

Love my STR-6036A. Plays larger than its stated watts/channel. I have 3 pair of 90+ db speakers and it drives them effortlessly. 3 sided wood case. The green dial glow vs a black backround and silver face is nice. It has a very sensitive FM tuner. They may not get the respect of low wattage Marantz/Pioneer units but also don't carry the high price tag on the secondary market. If I had to pick a negative it would be the lightweight but yet attractive knobs.
