Its a nice receiver for its time and purpose. Its not a high-end unit, but it was one of Sony's better products in the lineup. The 2 channel sounds pretty good, but on the bright side. It has a phono stage, which is a nice touch, and it has a selector for 4 ohm or 8 ohm speakers which is another high-end feature. Overall, its no pushover - meeting expectations where it must, and driving speakers above its price point.

re: STR-DE935

I purchased this receiver new back when it came out. It works great to this day. No problems whatsoever. I've used it to drive a Triad 5.1 surround sound which is 4 ohms...no sweat. Just switch the speaker selector in back. One of the great features is this model has two subwoofer output rca jacks LFE too. Double bass! No splitter.
This model is very user friendly and easy to operate. The remote control is fantastic as well.
I've owned many Sony receivers (STR-7065a, 7025, de898, gx909es, k580p, ga7es, da5000es, and a ta-f555es,401, 390?) and the de935 is my favorite besides the 7065a for music only.
The str-de935 is good.
