re: STR-V1

While this entry-level Sony has a very robust build quality and reasonably sensitive tuner, the power amplifier uses an HA1370 IC. It is mediocre so far as fidelity, best relegated to secondary spaces where critical listening is not the focus. Similarly, the STR-1800 uses power amp IC STK439. Both models are great candidates for beginners wishing to learn how to refurbish and restore vintage electronics.
