the quality build, inside and out. Alps potentiometers, Large Elna power supply caps and a well thought out interior wiring scheme. I also think the power transformer weights about 15 pounds! Rated at 80 watts into an 8 ohm load. Most of its life this amp has powered a pair of 6 ohm JBL L60T loudspeakers without ever breaking into a sweat. I also used 4 ohm studio monitors as well. I believe its power ratings were on the conservative side for sure

Audio Current Amplifier with CD direct button for pure cd reproduction. When you press CD DIRECT button, all circuits which are not necessary for CD playback are bypassed and you can enjoy pure digital sound.Switch for PHONO MM/MC.

re: TA-AX500

This is a nice integrated amplifier for mid-small rooms but have a large amount of components, like I do. The AX500 has separate rca in-out jacks for an EQ, two tape recorders, and input jacks for a tuner (st-jx500), CD player, phono with ground screw, and one AUX for whatever you want. I'm using it for an iPod or iPad. The EQ is connected to an EQ, a dynamic processor, and a reverberation amplifier for mostly visual thrills as the AX500 is pretty bland with lights.
User friendly design can't get much simpler than this. All adjustments are on the front, including phono cartridge switching for MM or MC. Sweet.
The preamp/ power amp have a wide frequency range and it's apparent when listening. The sound is typical Sony, easy on the ears and listenable all day without fatigue. The damping factor of 50 with 80wpc does a good job with 2-way speakers that I have hooked up; JBL L1 (speaker A) and L20T (B) with a Velodyne DPS.
One issue I've noticed is the volume control can be wonky. The unit has a relay switch when powering on. Otherwise it's a joy to have used.

re: TA-AX500

Poids 11 kg !
