The E90ES is a no compromise build that screams High End. Sony didn’t spare any expenses on this one. Clean, clean sounding. Never heard anything more neutral, to me that means a preamp I can live with for a Very long time. It doesn’t Try to impress or get in your face. The phono stage is excellent, dynamic and precise. The build and overall looks are impressive (+10 kg). Possibly one of the best preamps of the 1990’s. Nowadays it regularily costs over 1000 USD. It is worth it and quite a bargain at that. What would a preamp of this quality cost If constructed today? Probably in the 10 000 USD-range... Highly recommended.
