I got this Amp second hand in a non working state for £40. I repaired it using service manual from Hifi Engine and I have to say it is a very good Amp. Clear and clean sound with plenty of bass and treble even though no user controls on the amp. 80w per channel plenty of power for home use. If you can pick up one cheap, grab it, you won't be sorry.

I bought this amp with my summer job money for £180 in 1989 from my local Sony Centre. I downloaded the Service Manual from HiFi Engine to give it a check over (gotta love the 15s to adjust the bias pots)
Amazingly, everything is spot on, I checked the capacitors with an ESR meter and all is good. Considering what this amp has been through over the years, especially during the rave/techno period where it was often on at full power for 8-10 hours at a time (with decent ventilation though)
It is a very decent amplifier as bobbyc has noticed, it has no colouration in the sound and has an impressive linear response that stretches way beyond the ultrasonics. Yup, those were the days when Sony turned out a solid, reliable product that was better than the stated spec. Nowadays the specs of things are ridiculous because it's all a numbers game, no-one seems to care about the sound.
